This policy applies to all activities and data provided to Peer2Peer Education globally. This includes but is not limited to partner organisations, potential partner organisations, employees, contractors, businesses, government departments, education organisations and learners engaged in skills-based work programs.

Our Privacy Policy

This policy sets out how we approach dignity and privacy in service delivery.
Our approach to managing personal information that we collect from you is found in our Personal Data Management Policy

Our Approach to Privacy

Peer2Peer Education is committed to protecting the dignity and privacy of all our stakeholders. We have a people-first approach to protecting the privacy and personal data.

At Peer2Peer Education, we believe the privacy and dignity of the communities, businesses and individuals we work with are important. Privacy is one of our core values.

We design, review and update our approach to privacy and  personal data   in compliance with two legal frameworks:

Australian Privacy Principles (Schedule 1, Australian Privacy Act, 1988) (APP’s)

The European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GPDR)

Marketing, Social Media and Privacy

At Peer2Peer Education, we believe the privacy and dignity of the communities, businesses and individuals we work with are important. Privacy is one of our core values.

Out of this respect for privacy and the core legal requirements and privacy principles,  we do not take or collect photos, stories or experiences of individual students or participants in education programs for any form of social marketing, advertising or publicity.

This includes but is not limited to:

  • Social media that uses photographs of staff, students or businesses to promote a service
  • Newspapers or electronic media
  • Organisational newsletters

For more information, see our Social Media Policy.

We request our staff do not take photographs of students or businesses in any form for any type of social media or social media application for personal use, set out in the Code of Ethical Conduct.

We understand that students and our suppliers and the businesses we use may from time to time request photographs of themselves or others for promotional or personal purposes, and we respect the right of students to choose to take photos of themselves or others in this way.  All businesses and suppliers who wish to use images of our programs, staff or activities must ask us first.

Our preference would be to use our branded logos instead of photos, but we respect our partner organisations and students’ right to choose.

Peer2Peer Education does not engage in any marketing, publicity or advertising of our services that identify students or potential students as having experienced poverty, exploitation or abuse.  We believe marketing campaigns that identify any person or community as at risk of abuse, neglect or disadvantage are a form of exploitation, however well-intentioned the campaign may be.

Privacy and Images

How do we use images in our website, marketing and branding?

  • We use stock image purchased for use in accordance with copyright laws. A stock image is an image taken by a photographer, with the consent of the person in the picture.
  • We use custom-designed graphics and icons.
  • All our images meet requirements for international copyright law.

Dignity and Privacy

Our approach to dignity and privacy is at the heart of what we do.

Peer2Peer Education does not engage in any marketing, publicity or advertising of our services that identify students or potential students as being at risk of or having experienced poverty, exploitation or abuse through image, stories, video or any form of media.

We believe marketing campaigns that identify any person or community as at risk of abuse, neglect or disadvantage for advertising and financial gain is a form of exploitation, however well-intentioned the advertising campaign, organisation or program goal may be. We believe this is true even if a model is used and the names of the person have been changed.
